Erik Lars Myers, founder, CEO and head brewer at Mystery Brewing Company, joins me via Skype for today's podcast, which is a discussion of the history of beer. Erik is also co-author of "North Carolina Craft Beer and Breweries" with his wife Dr. Sarah H. Ficke, which is now in its second edition. We have a conversation about various points in beer history, including its ties to the beginnings of agriculture and how it morphed from "women's work" to a largely male-dominated industry and pastime.

Huge thanks to Erik for being on the show in Holly's absence (she has now returned from her vacation).

Our listener mail is a string of much-belated thank-yous to folks who have sent goodies to our office.
